Green Tea
Many studies have proven the effectiveness of green tea's weight loss and antioxidant characteristics. One of the main components of green tea is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which has been shown to increase metabolism and thermogenesis to promote fat burn and sugar breakdown into energy. Green tea can also prevent fat absorption and decrease the action of amylase from breaking down carbohydrates during intake of food. Thus less sugars and fat is absorbed into the body while green tea also regulates glucose uptake by the cells from the blood stream. As a result, cravings and appetites are decreased because the cells have the necessary amounts of glucose for energy production. In addition to the proven impact of green tea on weight loss, green tea has also been shown to be a great antioxidant to act against cancer and free radical damage. Other benefits of green tea include anti-inflammatory effects, cardiovascular improvement, and anti-aging effects.
